3D Veined Flower with Bulb Stamen - Free Crochet Pattern
74One morning, as I was sipping coffee from my cup, I noticed how beautiful its flower design was. It took me a while to realize that the vein made it more so. So I told myself I would make a crochet flower based on that. To make it stand out from the ones I already did, I made 7 petals (instead of my usual 5) and gave it a bulb stamen inspired by that of the Venus fly-trap flower.

WIP (Work-in-Progress) Pictures
I began this flower and finished until the veins while at my mom's house and I had no camera then. So, I made a bulb and a bit of vein in red because I ran out of yellow and yellow green. The rest of the pictures were taken at night, thus the dull color.
Crochet Instructions:
Bulb

Round 1: 2 sc in each ch (14 sc in all), sl st to 1st sc. Ch 2, turn.
Round 2: Dc in first sc (2 dc-cluster in next st) 13x. Sl st to 1st dc. Ch 1, turn.
Round 3: Sc in each st, sl st to 1st sc. Ch 1, turn.
Round 4: (Ch 3, yo, pull another yarn through next sc, yo, pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook)7x. (See WIP 1-4)

Attach yarn around post of any sc in Round 1 of Bulb. (See WIP 5-9)
(Sc around post of sc, ch 5, 5 sl st on ch worked on one loop only, ch 2, sk 1 sc)7x. Sl st to 1st sc. Break off and weave in ends.
Petals
Attach yarn to sc of Vein. Work the stitches on one loop only, such that a chain would seem to run in the middle of the petal. (See WIP 10-12)

It would be great to teach you to crochet. I taught 60 grade 6 pupils back then how to crochet - boys included. It'll be nice to flex those teaching muscles again.
You can find me on FB too.
